On Monday 8th May the Yorkshire Coast Community Rail Partnership held a Coronation Celebration event on Bridlington station. Station adoption groups and local town councils were all invited. Volunteers served refreshments to guests and passengers and gave out leaflets about the line and copies of the new timetable.
Special guests were the Driffield Ukulele band who performed two sets of songs to entertain passengers. The band’s members had written six songs for the YCCRP promoting the Hull to Scarborough line which they performed as part of their sets. Many passengers stopped to listen and some even had a sing along or a dance.
The YCCRP have chosen their favourite song which will become the soundtrack to a promotional video of the line which students from Hymer’s college are filming and putting together. The students also came to the event to take some video clips and meet the YCCRP volunteers.
The Ukulele band will be performing all the six new songs at their concerts over the Summer which will be excellent publicity for the railway line.
